Meet the Artist

Chermia Lucas

Chermia Amour is the professional art practice of visual artist Chermia Lucas, whose work centers on contemporary art and visual storytelling. Her practice explores identity, care, and emotional presence through figurative painting, layered textures, and expressive use of color creating work that feels intimate, reflective, and deeply human.

Originally emerging through fashion-based art and hand-painted design, Chermia’s early work gained attention through one-of-a-kind customizations. Her work and creative voice have been featured by Fashion Bomb Daily, BET Networks, and in the Emmy-nominated web series Tough Love.

As her practice evolved, Chermia’s focus expanded beyond wearable art and experiential events into painting as a primary mode of expression. Her work increasingly turned inward moving from surface design to narrative-driven imagery that explores vulnerability, self-recognition, and emotional truth. Figures in her paintings are often rendered without fixed identity, allowing space for viewers to see themselves within each work.

In parallel with her studio practice, Chermia has long been committed to arts education and mentorship. Through painting and visual storytelling, she has led creative workshops and confidence-building art programs for youth within New York City public schools, reinforcing her belief that artistic expression can be a tool for empowerment and self-discovery.

Today, Chermia’s work lives both on canvas and within broader narrative spaces, including film and cultural collaborations. Guided by the philosophy that “There’s nothing UNpaintable,” her practice continues to affirm authenticity, emotional honesty, and the power of art as a living, evolving language.
